Finding the best car for electric conversion is not that difficult as any small car
or truck is a good candidate for this project. We are now
leaning towards using small trucks after doing 3 conversions of
our own. Small trucks are light, strong and have lots of room
for batteries in the frame or in the box.
Using small cars for your electric car conversions is a great
option too.
We liked the project because it didn’t require any special tools
or skills to speak of. Now, I don’t know about you but I’m not
auto mechanic, but we really wanted to learn how to do gasoline
to electric
car conversion.
It was a bit of work, but it was manageable, taking only a
little over a week to complete.
We saved a lot of money too by using the sources listed in the
electric car conversion plans to find free
motors
for
electric
car
conversion and even free electric car conversion battery for our
vehicle.
Since these are the two most expensive items in electric car
conversion
price it was good to
know. These items bought new would have added a lot of cost.
As it was we only spent a few hundred dollars on the our
electric car conversion
including the cost of the electric car conversion plans. Compare
to few
thousand
dollars,
if we
would
use
electric
car
conversion
service. It wasn’t much more than a
typical repair bill on our old gas engine car, and those came
along frequently too…
There is typically very little maintenance costs with an electric
car conversion too. Very few moving parts and simpler systems
mean that it doesn’t break down as often.
We have been told that the DC electric car conversion motor used will go hundreds of
thousands of miles and last through normal driving in at least 2
vehicles. That will definitely keep long term costs down too.
Our electric car (1997 Toyota Tacoma) travels at 50 mph on
the highway and has a range between charges of over 200 miles.
It takes us where we want to go just like our old car, with some
significant differences.
There are no toxic fumes, and driving by gas stations on your
way is a real joy.
Isn’t it time you got started on your own conversion? Let’s get
started.
